Luntian Magazine Philippines is a Quarterly Electronic Publication on Green Innovations, Developments and Resources for your Industry, Business, Workplace, Home and Lifestyle.

Luntian Magazine revolutionizes, in an innovative but simple way, how a magazine is distributed, how subscribers get hold of it, read it, keep it, and share it.

On March 28, 2009 at 9:30 PM, immediately after Earth Hour, this site, in its draft form back then, informally opened subscriber registrations and has received 7296 sign-ups as of April 18.

Being true to its name, (“luntian” means “green” in Tagalog) the magazine will not only bring green content for businesses and people to use, but also makes the magazine medium itself as Earth-friendly as possible by creating and distributing the publication in electronic form – in PDF that is –for free downloading.

Based on our surveys, people still love reading through glossy magazines just as there is an increasing tech-savvy and environmentally conscious population from a wide age group who access, read and keep information in electronic form in their computers and mobile gadgets for faster retrieval, usage, sharing and collaboration.

	Our survey started with determining what our target audience are using to read their favorite materials. We asked them to choose up to 2 out of the 3 choices. The good old Web leads the polls with 97%, followed by print magazines with 74% and PDF trailing with 60%. We went on asking if they want to read green content in magazine format.
	A whopping 81% are looking for green content which was defined in the questionnaire as anything about environmental conservation and protection, recycling, pollution control, energy efficiency, renewable energy, wind and solar power, biofuels, personal, home, building, and business solutions, gadgets, and other products.
	We then asked them in what medium do they want this green magazine be presented and gave them 2 choices. A majority, as predicted, preferred the Web at 71%, which shows an already environmentally conscious group. Print magazines got 29% despite of the group being affluent. We now followed-up with them and gave them 3 choices and asked them to choose only one.
	PDF was the top choice at 61%, followed by the Web at 27%, and print magazines at 12%. This shows us that people would like to read green content in magazine format on Web pages but prefers PDF more when it is available due to the following reasons they gave:
PDFs can be easily electronically archived, can be used for collaboration while retaining document integrity, they don't have browser compatibillity issues, they are hyperlinks capable, and they are printer-friendly. And so Luntian Magazine merges these preferred qualities by our target audience by providing green content, by employing the Web-like and user-friendly properties of a PDF document and the appeal of a glossy magazine format. The gloss will be provided by your monitor screens.
